Chapters 1-2 (to be done later)
//
Chapter 3
- Apollos mentioned in Acts 18:24-28
- Paul and Saul are the same name, just different reference
- Context was that people in church looked up to Paul and Apollos but it’s supposed to be everyone follow God, they are just mere servants
- verse 7, only God makes things grow, we can only do planting and watering
- Related to discipleship, a disciple bears good fruit
- A good teacher/leader who God made grow, they take on disciples and plant seeds in them and water
- God makes them grow so now they can spread seed (reap what you sow)
- verse 9, we are fellow workers in God’s field
- Even when we do this, we are nothing
- Reference to Matthew 28:18-20
- Order is 1) make disciple, 2) baptise them, 3) teach them
- Problem is many churches flip the order around
- DUST video, Jesus knew as much as a rabbi, and have disciples to train so we bear the image of Christ
- Even though he gave us abilities to build a church, there were seeds planted
- Before Paul arrived to Corinth to build a church, there were seeds planted like a messenger brings Christ to a city
- verse 13, the days refer to judgement
- John the Baptist refers to someone else coming to baptise with “Fire”
